August????

Wow, every time I think to sit and type I end up 10 away doing something else! It has been an interesting summer so far. Kaylyn has stayed with us all this summer. Her Dad is having issues, so we have welcomed her staying with us! It's really nice having her around. Emma is very happy, they're great together! Kay has started her YMCA counsellor camp this week. It runs for 3 weeks, the last week she helps run a week of camp. She is really enjoying it!

Emma had 1 week at camp the second week of July. She goes next week for her second week. She liked it, she was a little disappointed that they don't have closing circle like last year. That is where they sang with ALL the other campers. Oh, the joy of camp songs non-stop from a 4 year old!!

We had almost a week up at the cottage with family. It was nice. Rained a couple of days, but that only stopped them from golfing! Scott turned everyone onto Geo caching! I tell you, I think he has a new hobby!

We have had a couple of day trips to Marineland, been home to Thamesford a couple of times and Kay & Emma have had picnic lunches at the splash pad. Been busy, busy, busy!

Back in the spring I had wrote a 600 word essay on Kaylyn being my Hero for a book that the Girl Guides are publishing for the 100 year anniversary. It is now out! I hope it turned out good! One of the founders for the book co-authored "Cup of Soup for the Soul". I think it will.

I have completed another course for my Sign Language studies. My teacher is a great teacher. He sent a letter (email) to the 2 teachers at George Brown College helping me plead my case for a course override for this fall. The course that I want is full and there is no waiting list. Being a 4 year course I hope to start as soon as possible! I am really enjoying it.

July

Summer is here! Kaylyn's graduation went great! She looked beautiful! Here dress turned out fantastic! Lots of family came down for the day. It was a perfect, sunny cool yet warm day for the event. Dinner was held just for the grad students, followed by the ceremony. We left just after they were presented with their certificate. The kids all stayed to have a dance. I asked Kay if she danced with anyone, but it is still Public School, so they all stayed on their sides of the gym. Some of the girls had really beautiful dresses. It was just short of a prom! Wow!

For Emma's year end class trip, both Scott and I chaperoned the Double Decker Bus ride. It was warm, but a beautiful, sunny day for the ride. It took the tourist route down Clifton Hill then up by the falls. We stopped for a picnic at a little play park, then retraced the route back to the school. The kids loved it!

We have heard that Emma will be in Mrs. Clegg's class again next year. We think that's great! She is a great teacher.

We have started our summer celebration already! We held a bbq on July 1st with friends and family. It was nice! Beautiful, perfect weather! We watched the parade, went over to the fair for a bit, then back to the house for a bbq. Later, we headed down to the falls to watch a spectacular display of fireworks! It was a great day!

Emma started her first week of Y camp today. I can't wait to hear her stories when she gets home. She loves these camps! Kay and I just enjoyed the silence of the day, doing not much of anything!

June.... half way already?

Well, Kaylyn headed out this morning on her class trip. They are camping for 5 days up near Orillia. Her Girl Guides have taught her a lot, I think she will have a blast. I just wish it taught her how to pack lighter! She always has at least 2 bags! She was very excited. I told her to take tons of pictures. These are the memories! I still remember our class trip to Ottawa. The pictures help, but man, it was like it was yesterday!

Emma's soccer game on Saturday went well. They tied the game 2-2. It was so hot, just sitting there cheering them on we were sweating! Crazy hot! The kids did great though! Emma, Scott and later on the day Kaylyn went swimming at the coaches house (his is a friend of ours as well). I got to go back to bed. Work, work, work!

Kaylyn had a couple of babysitting jobs over the weekend. She was happy to make a couple of dollars to take with her on their class trip. She is a really good kid. It amazes me how well she works with the little ones! She has filled out the application to apply for volunteering at the YMCA for some hours. She needs 40 by the end of high school, but I think she will have them by the end of the year!

Scott's birthday is this Wednesday. Emma and I are going to take Grandma Bishop shopping tomorrow to find something for him. Emma says she will make something special at school for him just like she did for me!

I got the walk way to the front door done this past week. Wow, it looks great! I didn't realize how much it would make the front door pop! I am impressed with myself! Lol! Now, just to get the garage door painted..... it's always something!

June to Start

Wow, keeping busy doing everything, time flies! I have started the front pathway to the house. It was delayed a week from having to locate the mold to make the cement stones. I looks great! I am half way done, but it looks great! My father helped make (well, I helped him) a cement step to the house. Our house settled over the past years, leaving a large almost 12 inch step. Well, not anymore! The gardens are coming along to. I pulled everything that decided this year they weren't coming back and planted some more perennials. Filled in some spots with annuals, just for Emma to have to pick!

I have started my second course in ASL (Sign Language). It's great! I have found out that the course I want has a prerequisite as of this fall making it a 4 year course. This September is full, but I will see what I can do. If not I will make sure all the ducks are in a row for next September! I am still enjoying it fully!

Kaylyn has her class trip next week. They are going camping for 5 days. Girl Guides has taught her well. She will be fine! She graduates this month. Man is she excited! 2 weeks and a day, but who's counting!

Emma's soccer team has won both their games. She had a goal the first game, but because she was inside the goalies crease it didn't count. We still celebrated it! This past weekend she got an assist. She gets better every time!

Next week Scott is heading to Ellicottville for a golf tournament with work. Oh, the perks of work! Next weekend we are invited to 3 birthday parties celebrating their 40th! Crazy week ahead!

I am back to working 4 days a week again this week. Last week I had a busy week between household chores and building things, I had a visit for the afternoon from Debra! It was great to have lunch and have an afternoon in Port Dalhousie. Hopefully I can head back home to visit everyone soon.

First Soccer Practise

Well, I'm not ready.... this warm week has slowed my momentum. I actually stopped to sit and relax with Emma a couple of times. Well, not fretting, I have a good family that will help me get what needs done, done. Shhh, don't tell them!

Yesterday was Emma's first soccer practise. She did REALLY well! She spends more time playing with her baseball and bat than her soccer ball, so we were a little worried as to how she would do. It turns out our good friend Peter is her coach. He is really good with the kids. He had them all kicking the ball around and stopping it. For a little on that has never played soccer she did fantastic! Tomorrow is her first game at 10:00 am. Going to be a long day again! Man, I have to get weekends off!

Kaylyn had placed third at her schools track and field meet, so today she is off to run the relay for her school at the next level! She is so excited! Last time she ran it was raining, today if it doesn't reach 30 I will be shocked! Emma and I hope to head over to see her soon!

Summer??

This past weekend, I had to work, but Monday was our day! Kaylyn was at her Dad's partying it up. We went to the Pierobon's for a BBQ and fireworks. It was hot enough to heat up the pool. We had a great time!

Wow, is this May weather GREAT! Last week, we took the girls out of school to spend a sometime at the cottage. We couldn't have asked for greater weather! We had a bit of rain, but most of the week was sunny and hot!
We headed into Haliburton on Thursday for the day. Bright sunny skies, we had to find a good soda shop for an ice cream.

We got a new "Snuggle" photo of the girls. Kaylyn was practising how to start a fire. Emma thought she should help. It's the only way to make smores you know. With "smarshmellows" as Emma calls them!

Emma learned a bit from Grandma about Farmville or Zoo world on Facebook! Lol! Quick learner! She was done in no time for her!

Emma, the silly nut pictured here is pretending to be an owl. She cooed like a sleeping owl. Funny girl!

Emma got the extra treatment at our stop at McDonald's. The nice lady gave her a wee bit of ice cream in a cup too. She let Emma pack her lunch. Emma thought it was great!

Kay's Update

Kaylyn had a great update at the Urologist appointment. It was a long day, but ended on a happy note. The Doctor did rattle Kaylyn a bit with the talk of surgery, but that is only to keep us aware of options. Kaylyn is not a fan of surgery, not many of us are. Hers comes from the last time. She believes she will be held back a grade again. I tried to explain that High School is different. But, there is no surgery in her future at this point. Her ultra sound proved positive results. She is to stay on course with what we have been doing. I like having a couple of different Doctors on Kaylyn's case. They all offer something different to the table. I guess I should hear them first though, some of their good intentions scare the crap out of Kay! Her blood pressure is under control and she has not had any infections since her surgery in 2002, so I would say we are doing ok! No surgery Kay! Yeah!

Kaylyn survived the weekend even though her camping trip was cut short. The nasty weather wreaked havoc on the tents, so they called it quits Saturday afternoon. She has a bit of a sniffle, but some great stories to tell you about wind, mud and rain!

I hope the weather turns better soon. As Kay says, the weather is a month behind. April is the month of showers.... my gardens are missing me! We got out for a couple of days at the beginning of the month, but I have lots I wish to do!

Next Monday, we are thinking of heading up to the cottage for a couple of days. Will be nice just to get out of town for a couple of days with no plans! Hopefully the last week of May will be nice enough to get the outside ready for summer!

Still have lots of interior decorating going on.... this silly cold put a damper on my painting and mudding! I only need to put the last coat on the trim in the upstairs bathroom. As well, sand and prime the mud room downstairs. Refreshing! If only I could kick this darn cold!
