Easter Weekend

Well, the Easter Bunny made his way to our house. Emma was quite surprised to find eggs outside her bedroom door. "Candy Mommy! Eggs!!" We went in to Kaylyn's room to wake her. After pulling her eyelids open, we reminded her that it was Easter morning. Well, she shot out of her room faster than telling her it was a snow day for school!
The two of them shared collecting the eggs. It was quite cute to watch. Kay's patience showed! Emma just wanted to eat, but Kaylyn reminded her there was more! They are funny together!

Last night was an interesting one..... I went to the drug store to pick up some medication when I was rear ended. The weather was not the greatest, so I was following a gentleman who was going a nice slow pace. We came to a stop at a red light. The car behind me was full of kids who weren't paying attention until the last second to slam on the brakes. The nose of their car went down and skid right under my bumper picking up the rear of my car. He bounced me forward, but luckily the guy in front of me seen him coming and tried to move forward. I still clipped his bumper taking out my front passengers light. The car behind crumpled into itself. Our car is disheveled. We have to have it appraised, but from photos we sent to Phil (Scott's brother, our mechanic) it probably will be a write off. We have a rental for now... it's a nice car! We have a Toyota Camry hybrid. Nice! The good news is everyone walked away. I am sore, getting stiffer, but ok.
Time to start car shopping!

Kay's Quilt

Kaylyn had a great March break visiting my parents. She made her second quilt within a week! It looks great! She is very proud. Here are a few shots of her working on it as well as the final product. We tried telling Kaylyn that if she is able to do this on her own, she could do it as a hobby and sell them as a job! She wouldn't go for it! (hehe) We are happy she is home!

End To A Long Week

Ms.Emma woke this morning at 6, bright and early with the sun! Someone needs to tell this child her mother is NOT a morning person! But, she stayed dry all night long! I put her new panties on her for the day. She decided at 9 that she thought she needed to pee, so off we trot to the potty. After she decides it's a false alarm, Emma stands up to try and put her sweat pants on herself. I tell her to sit on her bum... and she succeeded! The pants were on backwards and she had originally stuck both legs in one whole, but she did it! She is becoming very independent!

Brad and Katie left yesterday to go back to Oshawa. We had a good little visit. Ryan is here till tomorrow, unless the weather doesn't co-operated!

KAYLYN IS HEADING HOME! After a long week without Kay, she is planning to return to our home today. Every time another person babysits for us, it puts how good Kaylyn is with Emma into perspective! Don't get me wrong, the kids this week did great, but Kaylyn just knows! She is a fantastic babysitter and the best big sister anyone could ask for.

I am sure after kisses hello, Kaylyn will be of to her room to visit with her hamster Jeffery. Ryan has kept him company, but Emma is the one who thinks she should see him every 5 minutes just to make sure he is alive!

I love visitors, the silence after is much appreciated! Next long haul, SUMMER!

Mid Break

This is one of my favorite photos of Kaylyn. I try to share it with everyone, just to show how beautiful she is!

Kaylyn is enjoying her time at Grandma and Pappa Broadfoot's house. She is busy building a quilt! This will be her second one she has made. Good thing she is learning, maybe someday she'll teach me!

Ryan made it down on sunday. He is as full of giggles as he has always been! He is being a great big help! Emma has him wrapped around her finger already!

Tanya (our sister-in-law) came down today with the kids. Brad and Katie are going to stay with us for a few days. They want Emma time too! Ali has to head back for some March Break activities, or I am sure she would be staying too! It's great when we get all the kids together. They get along so well! We are missing Sami and Kaylyn though! We have made our own little family the bunch of us! Next time we get together we will be sitting on the porch of the cottage! Bring on the sun, the water and the drinks!

March Break To Come

Well, March Break usually means spring break and summer around the corner. I don't know about where you are, but we have WAY TOO MUCH SNOW AND ICE! Now I know why people head south this time of year!

Kaylyn is busy trying to plan her week off school. So far she plans to spread her time between her 2 Grandparents house (Broadfoot and Soper) with a little mom time and a little dad time.

We have succeeded in convincing my sister to allow my nephew to visit us for the week. Ryan thinks this is GREAT! He'll make some babysitting money, enjoy Emma time and just hang out with us! We tried to get Sami, but she is in New York. Emma will be ecstatic! She'll have someone to share her tea time with!

The potty training is still in progress. She does go, only on her own terms though. We bought panties tonight to help keep her on track! She still thinks her potty is the best multi-purpose object in the house!

Mildstone in Life

So Ms. Emma's journey into becoming a civilized human is continuing! Today, she took it upon herself to use her potty for what it is intended for. She normally uses it as a stool to the sink, a playing table for her animals or something to push towards the dog to scare him. Today she informed Daddy that she peed. Looking for a small puddle on the floor, she shows him her potty! To his surprise, as well as Kaylyn's and my awaking, he excitedly exclaimed "You peed in the potty!" Thinking this the best thing ever since boxed Smarties, Emma wakes us all to tell us with pride.

Thinking this was a fluke and we would still have to continue to watch her, she used it a second time tonight. Scott was off to work. Kaylyn was babysitting. She asked Emma to come with her to use the washroom. Emma appeases Kaylyn and sits on her potty. She dribbles a little, enough to make Kaylyn proud enough to call Scott's cell phone. As Kaylyn is proudly explaining what happened, Emma actually used the potty!

Needless to say, it is a proud day in our house! Emma is happy about the cheering, Kaylyn is proud to have gotten Emma to use the potty and Scott & I can see the savings in NO DIAPERS coming!

One more mildstone in our little world!
